...then there you have the reason so many football clubs are in financial trouble in a nutshell.

"Andrews" should be as much a part of footballing terminology as "Bosman". ?21'000 a week; ?2000 per game and a rise every five games-how the flying f**k of fancy can that, does that, make sense, can anyone, anywhere, the very least of all the people who agreed to pay him that, think its acceptable and that he is worth it?

"Obscene" is a word freely distributed to describe the excesses of football and its used so often it has no meaning or impact anymore-yet that, his salary, someones estimation of his worth, truly is-obscene, rotten, disgusting and so removed from reality that it has passed through several dimensions away from it and is still travelling, no distance can be too great for it to be considered sufficiently far away from the norm and what is acceptable. It defies belief.

Andews is a decent enough footballer I am sure. But what is his real worth?

Its that sort of salary, his and the hundreds like it that defile the game, and more so than those awarded to the likes of a Rooney or a Torres.
Sometimes I fear for the future of the game. Yet, more and more often, I fear that it won't implode, not that it will.
And I thank the fact that we have, in McNally and co someone who would never sanction such utter, utter folly and lunacy at our club.
