I think we did.
By all accounts Lambert used the following line up
----------------------Ruddy-------------------
R Martin------De Laet-----Barnett------Naughton
-----------------------Fox-----------------------
---Bennett----------------------------Johnson
---------------------Hoolahan-------------------
-----------Holt----------------Morison------------
Not sure if Fox is locked in or Lambert is thinking Crofts in that role?
He also switched Naughton from LB to RB when RM went off.
As i mentioned the other day, It looks like Naughton will be our first choice LB.
One of the advantages of having him play LB is we only need a LB on the bench to cover both RB and LB.
This gives us another option from the bench.
Johnson makes perfect sense in the Lappin role
If we go with Bennett on the right and Hoolahan behind the strikers we need at least one player who is a bit more defensive.
One thing that struck me with this formation.
Its been claimed that we now have 2 players for every position?
Who is the 2nd player in the Wes spot?
Pilkington? C Martin?
Would seem like a certain Danni Pacheco would be the ideal person to cover in that spot.
One interesting thought is that where does this formation leave Andrew Surman?
Is he cover for Johnson on the left in a slightly less defensive formation?
Assuming the 2 players for every position
----------------------Ruddy (Rudd)-------------------
Martin(Naughton)De Laet(Whitbread)Barnett(Ward)Naughton(Tierney)
---------------------Fox(Crofts)-----------------------
---Bennett(Pilkington)---------------Johnson(Surman)
-----------------Hoolahan(C Martin)-------------------
-----------Holt(Wilbraham)----Morison (Jackson)--
