Just thinking about it. Given when he joined, and that he signed a new contract whilst not a regular in the first team, maybe he isn't one with a Prem promotion contract.

Coming from a humble background, what would he be getting paid ? If we say average League One wages (fairly indicative of a fringe Champs striker on loan in L2 ?) then we're only talking about around 1.3k a week.

He's not going to be a Prem striker any time soon. He might be a player who will soon start pushing into a Championship team. If we go down this season and he is still at Carra Rud, then he might well be useful next season and we're not going to get much better for a lot less than 4 or 500k are we ? Especially considering we'll have parachute payments so everyone will try to hold us to ransom. So surely it's going to take a considerable figure to sell him ?

So if nobody is stumping up the readies for him right now, it's only gonna cost us about 30k to hold onto him until the January window, when some teams are going to be a bit more desperate. In the meantime he can still go out on loan I suppose.

Makes sense holding out in my opinion.

However, it IS a shame that the lad banged them in for fun for a whole season and then is being deprived of continuing his form.
