Mathias Jonson who was a decent right-sided attacker in a 4-3-3 and then played him out of position as an out and out winger, then decided the best we could do as a backup winger was a 55-year old Graeme Stuart (again, he did what was asked of him - not his fault), Dropped Safri for no apparent reason, even putting Helveg and Charlton in the defensive role ahead of him at times.
The seasons before Worthy had been great (not quite Lambert but still his decisions were fairly understandable), and then he just seemed to lose it entirely in the Premiership season and beyond.
No idea why. Just seemed to lose his way. Let's hope the same doesn't happen with Lambert although I doubt it will because while Worthy seemed (early on) to be good at making the most of what he had, Lambert seems to have a vision which is sacred to him and should serve to keep him consistent in his philosophy. And I think we're gonna live or die by that philosophy, but that's life and I'm happy to take the chance because if it works the way Lambert believes it will I think we'll be an established Premiership team ! That might also mean a yo-yo couple of years but we shouldn't forget that the 7 year plan also included a relegation from the Prem... People keep saying we've achieved it in 18 months, but that's not true. We're just 2 or 3 years ahead of the schedule they marked out.
