Macau is a bizarre old place, lots of old mediterranean architecture,

there's even an old facade of a Roman Catholic cathedral. The place seemed to be sponsored by Marlboro. Only 30 minutes on the Hydrofoil from HK, and back in the day was convenient for getting another year on your stay in HK.
