Fao: Tombs. Mole Update ...

This is what you've been waiting for all weekend no doubt!
The moleman came round Friday morning at 11. Turned up in an R reg Combi van (no bike I'm afraid). Mid 40's I would guess, bit of a tummy, no hair, red faced. Sort of what I'd expected really. Anyway had a chat and told me his charges, ?15.00 call out and ?15.00 per mole thereafter, "no moles no fee". He said by the look of it 2-3 moles working the lawn, one mole could push up 15-20 hills a day! He's been doing this since his teens and I got the impression he really knew what he was about, he does other pest control work but "moles are his passion"
He set about his work and showed me the THIRTEEN traps he had laid and said he would come back and check them Saturday morning at 9.30, so I could go round with him. I said you haven't got a load of them in your freezer which you could bring along in case you hadn't caught any? He laughed.
So Saturday morning we went round and he'd caught two, so the bill now was ?45.00, re-set them and said he'd be back Sunday. We had a lie in and then found another two in a carrier bag on the patio! Now the bill is ?75.00.
Had an email a little while ago as he hadn't been by the time I left this morning.

Hi Paul, just to let you know I got another 1 this morning I left it in a tesco bag on the garden bench same place as yesterdays 2 so thats 5 moles so far, I'm going to leave the traps in a little longer perhaps pull them up wed / thurs morning as long as thats ok with you ??, I have spoken to your neighbour who is sorting the moles himself although his wife said she will contact me if he has no luck and I will continue to call round at 9.30 ish each morning to check / clear the traps. Regards Jeff

My bill is now ?90.00!! Didn't realise it would be quite that much, but f**k me he knows his stuff and it will be nice to have a mole hill free lawn!!
