Take away the hooliganism and racism from the 80's. Go back to the football, where it was played by men. Men called Charlie, Peter, Tommy, Ian, Eddie, David (all in our 1970 FAC winning team)

Now it's Petr, Didier, Florent, Fernando, Yossi

Foreigners have added to the game, of course, been some tremendous ones in the PL (Ruud, Vialli, Overmars, Ronaldo etc)

But the passion is long gone, replaced by more skill, undoubtedly, but that's what we miss - a team fighting, no matter what, not a game sanitised by a bunch of prancing diving t**ts, stewards telling us to sit down, people tapping us on the shoulder asking us to sit down. NO, FUCK OFF, I SUPPORT MY TEAM.

I genuinely genuinely hope that it doesn't affect Norwich as much as it's affected (and infected) us, really do.

As you say, no-one can take away the memories. The sad thing is that our grandkids will only have memories of sanitised watered down games where all that matters is how much money you've got, not who won, scored, outsung who. Just bragging rights for your Tarquins and Tamaras.

I have said for 10 years (as I, and many more, saw this coming) that as soon as it hits ?50 per game routinely, I'm off. And I stand by it - which means this season is probably my last - we're at ?47 now. I can afford it, but it doesn't mean I have to pay it.

I just hope the person sitting in my seat understands, one day, just what it means to be a football fan.

Because it's the hardest job in the world. And also, once, the most fulfilling.
