...this one could go on all season - most older fans have been waiting for the boom to go bust. It's not doing. And, realistically, it probably won't do. As you say, those 2,000 seats will go, easily - even if it's Wigan, the lure of seeing PL football is huge.
Personally, I'd love for it to go bust, for prices to drop, for them to see what they're doing to true, lifelong fans.
But we're a rare breed now, it will still be passed down from generation to generation, but as each generation can no longer afford to go, we'll have to regale our great grandkids with tales of how we used to sing at football matches, how it was mainly English people at games, not a mixture of all-sorts of foreigners taking photos and doing nothing when we score.
I think this, and the next generation are the last for us lot. We've got playstation football fans, everyone's a football manager, can watch it all on TV.
The reality is: you (or I) don't take our seat this season, some f**ker else will - and it's pretty much nailed on that that person will know NOTHING about the history of the club, the chants, the songs and not give a flying one whether we win or lose. Just so they can say they were there.
AVB - here's hoping - RA must have seen something to pay ?13m for a manager. Unprecedented move, I believe?
