The @ symbol is used by all users of Twitter...

...mine is @IamOrtonomous, Dampy's is @MattyGayLord and so on - it is there to direct relevant traffic to your feed and for others to do the same...

The best way to understand Twatter is to get on there and have a play but I suspect you won't...shame cos I reckon you'd rather enjoy it at times...
