ic Brooks' head, and James can do the whole contrition thing, before it gets back to business as usual. If he'd booted Rebekah out when the calls were at their loudest, he will have known that even worse was to come and that with no blastwall in place, the ire would be aimed at James, and that cannot stand.
Now they can go in front of the select committee and say "yes, sorry, we did wrong. It was Brooks' fault, she paid with her job, and we've closed the newspaper" with James having to face the minimum flak possible.
Time will tell if Rupert's right or not.
