"Darren always reminded me of Forrest Gump. You needed a banner to tell him to stop or pass. He was quick and he was quite strong and when he got into the box he could score a goal. You do get players like that and it works for them, but his overall game needed a bit of work. But I guess you don't get everything and he got the pace and I'd have swapped anything for that."

"Darren was quick, but take away his pace and he hasn't got a f**king brain, he doesn't know when to pass. That's what makes good players great players, that split second, knowing when to pass, knowing where your players are. Darren was head-down and his pace got him away from people to give him licence to sometimes look up and find someone or usually go himself and miss. His overall game is piss-poor, you only see the highlights on Match of the Day. You see those few seconds, but for the other 89 minutes he was f**king s**t."
