Mainly cos it's also good with currency charges abroad.

Although Mr O'Leary will no doubt change it again soon - they have to offer one card free of charges to justify calling the normal fee an additional charge. He normally goes for the most obscure card on the Market, and these will be becoming a bit too popular for him.
