Now, there's not a lot to go on in those two words, and the potential scope is gigantic, but in my experience a digital agency is simply a web-based marketing organisation. So, websites, social media interaction, SEO, that sort of thing, for companies with actual products/services that need promotion.

My sister-in-law worked in the field for a long time before taking redundancy, and from what I can gather, like a lot of marketting ventures, it is a bulls**tter's paradise.
