probably embarrassingly basic techy help required

every time i switch tabs on chrome, the one i click on is just a white screen
to be able to see this page for example i had to refresh
this is the same for every website, when i switch to the tab i need to refresh to see anything
been happening for a week now and very annoying.
ta for any suggestions
