I like the openess, big skies and feeling of serenity. In the summer,

you can feel you are the only person in the world out there. In winter they are brooding and mysterious.
I wouldn't like to live there though and I love the hills up here.
Curiously, West Lancs is actually very flat and fen. It reminds me of Cambridgeshire but within sight of hills.
