That Thorne doesn't actually have a knee injury, but he's been caught mooning the Pope outside the Vatican whilest out of his skull on acid and having it off with Steve Foley.

And hence he's fallen out with Worthy (Who broke both of his collar bones in revenge) whilest being banged up in Rome and then sectioned.
