if my memory serves me right

(and I've only seen it the once, 20 years or so ago) it starts with the bird lying naked in the bath, soaping herself and you can hear 'drip drip drip' it pans down towards her ankles and there's the drip, coming from above, it pans slowly up to a shelf, very slowly, above the bath - and it's the blood dripping off a cat's tail that's had it's stomach slit open.

I'll try and dig it out again, too, but it was probably the first Art Noir film I ever saw
