Why McLeish over Mark Hughes?

Seems bizarre to say the least.

Bookies say 4/7 on.... so I am obviously going out on a limb here.

Maybe McLeish quit after being told he has to cut the huge wage bill he helped create. (selling a number of his better players)

McLeish wasnt even that popular at Brum amaongst te fans even after winning the LG cup.
