Perhaps They Thought He'd Be On A Free?

Given our 'tradition' in the past to release players who haven't been up to it? Maybe they thought there'd be an end of season cull and he'd be gone, paid up, and a free agent?

Except that he'ss till under contract (1 year?) and on a substantial (compred to them) salary which might have gone up with promotion. So not as cheap and easy as they thought.

Worth PL sitting him down and seeing if he wants to give it a go this season-maybe as high a level of football as he'll ever get the chance to play in, if he has the ability-and that seems fairly unquestioned by better judges than me-then why not? PL would also be as good as chap as any to help him with settling down and home sickness, besides Scotland isn't a million miles away, regular flights and all that from the airport.
