For instance, I got an email recently from H&S bod:
"Alan, I noticed you using the overhead crane earlier. You haven't gained the certificate for that piece of equipment, so please don't use it again. Sorry about this" (he's only doing his job, in fairness)
"Mark - OK, thanks for the info, but I thought I was authorised to use it by reason of Demonstrated Competence?"
"Sorry Al, but this is an industry-recognised piece of equipment so you need to take the Industry course"
"Mark - OK, put me down for the next one. How long's the course?"
"Al - it's a full day"
"Mark - OK forget it, I can't spare the time"
Overhead crane: this button makes it go that way, this button makes it go THAT way, this button etc etc. If the load starts to swing, it's immediately obvious how to correct it. It's really annoying. But he IS just doing his job and I won't beat him up for that.
