What does my head in more than anything is this constant optimism

from the board that we will finish in the top 2, even now. Some members of the board/management/team still think we are going to end up in the top 2. We're TOO confident and it's doing us NO favours. We need to start being realistic. Worthy has always said in the past that he doesn't look at the league table. Well right now he needs to get EVERYONE looking at it to show just how poor we have been this season. We should be, at the very least, comfortably in mid table-play zone right now but even though we're not everyone at the club seems to think we're going to walk it. Until we get our head out of the clouds and realise how much work we're going to have to do to even make the play offs then we're gonna keep winning one week and losing the next, and not end up getting anywhere at all. I still think that we're on the verge of sorting it out though as the players are starting to wake up to the fact that we've majorly under oerformed. The next 7 games are crucial now and most are against teams who will end up in the bottom half of the league. At the very least I'd expect the following from those games:

Hull (H) 3 points - Has to be.
Brighton (A) - 3 points - Relegation material
Millwall (H) - 3points - Another struggling team
Luton (A) - 1 point - Playing well but won't keep it up.
QPR (A) - 1 point - Same as above
Sheff Weds (H) - 3 points - Another who'll be bottom half
Cardiff (H) - 3 points - Yet another who'll be in a relegation scrap at the end.

Ok so 18 points from the next 21 sounds incredibly optimistic but we should be getting those results against those teams. If we can perform as well as we know we can then it's possible. We'd then have 27 points from 17 games and probably be close to play offs again. Anything less than 15 points from those games would be really poor. All 4 home games are winnable and we should be able to take 3 points from those 3 away games, whether it be a win at Brighton and 2 defeats against Luton and QPR, or 3 draws. If, after those 7 games we have made absoluately no progress then I will probably also be in the group of fans now calling for Worthington to step down. The next 7 games are crucial for both him and our season.

Let's hope things can be turned around.
