the word like

the word like has several different uses:

1. as a verb - 'i like football'
2. as a comparison - 'rugby is like american football'
3. to ask for a description - 'what's Ian Pearce like?'
4. to give an example or explanation, like this:

"because we lost yesterday, so the first team will change and Hucks will be in for McVeigh realistically, but I hope Lisbie is the player to make way LIKE

only form 1 (the verb) needs a 'd' at the end for the past tense.
