He is not toasting the thought of Capello's departure, nor showing a lack of tact. He says that he still wants to play for England, yet doesn't expect to be picked by Capello. His "cheers" comment simply says that if Capello leaves, he hopes the next guy will pick him.

By that time he'll have no chance of course. I still find it odd that players like Zamora and Bothroyd got the nod over him for a subs spot though. He may be too fragile to start, but the bloke keeps scoring goals.
