I used to live in Boston (at end of 89 up to Italia 90)

It used to be a great place to go out - especially Back Bay and the area off the common and up the hill that I forget the name of. Worth a trip over the river to Cambridge too - old, old wooden houses if you get off the beaten track a bit. Go up the Hancock Tower for the most boring, monotone piped commentary ever (on the history of Boston); but a nice view. Then do the Freedom Walk (I think it's called) along the yellow lines (the last war the Yanks actually won I think).

New England's a nice place to drive around - up to Salem for witches and Lowell for Kerouac's birth place and grave (the locals aren't particularly proud I don't think...)
