I got some first hand inside info on this in January.

Basically O'Neill refuses to work under the three owners as he doesnt like the way they make decisions he feels managers should have. He also told Brady she had to cancel her newspaper contract which she refused. He also felt that the only two decent players were Parker and Cole and he felt they would get relegated and didnt want a relegation on his CV.

Lambert at that time was second choice and the club were approached but he didnt want the job and by that I presume is even less likely to be remotely interested now.

I found that out within 30 minutes of Martin O'Neill putting the phone down on my source so I know its correct but will say no more than that.
