Phone the hotel direct.... really.... I don't know why more

people don't do this. You wouldn't use a travel agent to book a hotel in this country so why do it abroad?
I've yet to phone up one and find that they don't speak English and invariably the rates are better than the travel agents.
Then you can get a cheap bucket flight. Job done.
