In my experience, be a late adopter. Early adopters drive the technology, but

that's what the manufacturers want. First editions are often flawed or not quite ready to be fit for purpose.

Think iPhone 2G. It was utter cack really. But once they added the features the early adopters wanted (3G, proper GPS, etc) and the app store started to grow with useful applications, it became a fanastic bit of kit.
