Well, important to note that those aren't laptops as you currently think of them.

You get a standard laptop, and it runs an operating system like Windows, MacOS or a flavour of Linux. On that you can install your programs and s**t like email clients, word processors etc, and it's all on the device.

Those thing don't (seem to want to let you) do that - they provide a way for you to consume software services like Google Docs (for all your office word processors and spreadsheet software) and Gmail, by forcing everything through a (admitedly very advanced) web browser.

If you can do everything you want from your laptop in nothing more than a web browser - specifically Google Chrome - then get one. Otherwise, they're not for you.
