Re Nasie's post below, I owe my support of NCFC to my old man (RIP)

He grew up a Charlton fan, living round the corner from The Valley, but moved to Norwich in 1968 to work on the EDP.

When he became sports editor in the early to mid 70s, he used to get me, my mum and my brother free tickets from John Bond in the old Main Stand.

In those days the press were much closer to the players and used to travel to and from away games on the team coach. When I was about eight to 10, we used to go to the pub in Brundall with the likes of Graham Paddon, Keith Robson, Kevin Keelan and, sometimes, Martin Peters. Great days.

He became a Norwich fan and was as passionate as any Norwich-born fan was.

Best moment of this season for me was the tears of joy of my 10-year-old son when we scored against Derby. My old man, who never got to see his grandchildren, would have been proud. Things have come full circle.

We inherit all sorts of s**t from our parents ("they f**k you up, your mum and dad, they may not mean to but they do"), but the best thing he gave me was my love of football and NCFC.
