December 23, 2004 - Gervais to Write for the Simpsons

Following on from his special achievement award for writing presented yesterday at the British Comedy Awards, it has now been revealed that Matt Groening has asked Ricky Gervais to script an episode of The Simpsons.

Gervais has begun the script which includes a part for himself. "I've got the rough idea," he said. "But this is the most intimidating project of my career. The Simpsons is the greatest TV show of all time."
