Just had this conversation ...

Him: "Are you doing the London Marathon this weekend?"

Me: "No, I applied, but didn't get a place. I'm doing the Nottingham Marathon instead in September."

Him: "Oh. How far is that one?"

Me: * blank look and pause * "Twenty six point two miles?"

Him: "Oh."
