The Outboard motor mystery is solved

She finally succumbed to the old stress position and blabbed that the reason she had put the outboard motor in our bedroom wardrobe was that she had confiscated it from Tombs Jr (aged 10) after he had attempted to sail my Assault Craft (rubber dinghy) across our swimming pool (big paddling pool). She was concerned about his intent to fill up an electric battery in a big paddling pool.

The vibrator accusation amused her somewhat.
