So what's the truth about transfers/players leaving?

One day we're being told all the players are on long term contracts and wont go for peanuts & next we'e learning Svennson has an escape clause in his contract meaning he can go on the cheap.
Well how many others have similar clauses?
Has Greeno's that he signed in the summer? Francis'? Deano's??!!
