They?ll relegate QPR from the Prem after they?ve been promoted in the top two. Gives longer for an appeal (mid June when the fixtures come out) but the third from bottom Prem team is saved as opposed to messing around with the top two or playoff places with a points deduction as it?s too late to mess around with the playoff now.
When the Sheffield United / West Ham appeal was pending I?m sure I read somewhere that the fixture list had created so either team could take the other?s slot without too much disruption so this could be done.
But the net result for City is still the same. I don?t think we will see any benefit promotion wise from it.
