Biblically s**t before the tournament, on a run of 15 (I think) without a win. White-washed by the Bangas. The usual mildly embarrasing top order, and a bowling lineup which consisted of 2 half-decent dribblies, a provincial twirler, the military medium of Oram, and the modestly unthreatening Southee, every other bowler of any note whatsoever being injured.

And one of the best sides in the world contrived to completely f**k it up against that lot? Someone check the bookies!
