When I was a young man, wimmin used to complain that there was nothing on telly for them. Now, there is, there's lots, and all of it embarrassingly painful. We should have known: have you ever stood and looked at the front covers of the Female Interest Magazines section in a newsagents? Jeeeeeeze.

What my future son in law finds hardest to believe is how TV used to show football before Sky came along. Final whistle, cut to studio, 90 secs of comment and roll the credits.
