because he'd have read it yesterday before he turned ignore back on

(that is assuming he's using your actual 'ignore' function what is built in to this site rather than doing the old 'i'll not reply to his posts but i'll still read every single one of them just in case he still says something about me' (which is absolutely, definitely not something unique to pants or this site)
