I listened to the interview of the boro chairman (who is over here at the moment!)
It actually came off as pretty honest but he did contradict himself a couple of times.
Near the start he stated Boro needed money to balance the books by selling yet by the end he said they didnt need the money?
You can also tell that him and Fry dont agree on this deal.
Fry knows that 2.5 million is a hell of a price for a 27 YO LG 1 player.
Considering what previous players with the same records (and much younger) have gone for.
The chairman thinks they will get the same money in the summer (3 million) LOL.
He is clearly deluded on this point, Fry knows this.
But Fry does have a huge conflict of interest in all this.
(CMS current girlfriend is Frys daughter Amber)
The only reason we are willing to go to 2.5 million now is because of the situation we find ourselves in.
Supply and demand.
In the summer we will have the pick of the players on the market especially if we are in the prem.
We might not even want CMS then.
Every club will know CMS has only a year left and is unwilling to sign a new contract.
When has that EVER been a good situation for the selling club......
The reason they are stuck with the 2 million up front figure is they know a certain person just invested 2 million in NCFC.
In a lot of ways we would be better off keeping this s**t quiet till the summer.
It only gives other clubs room to bend you over.......
I do predict the following two senarios
(1) The most likley senario is that as we get closer to the loan deadline next week one side or the other will blink in this game of chicken.
I think boro will blink first, I predict we get him for less than the stated 3 million.
(2) If we don't get him in the loan window I predict the following in the summer.......
He goes for less than 1.5 million.....
If he stays and boro fail to win promotion I predict he goes for less than 1 million.
I can slightly understand Boros situation as they probably feel they have a better chance of promotion with CMS.
Its a big gamble because it will cost them at least 2 million to roll the dice
They are going to lose CMS in the summer regardless.
If he stays (and is unhappy and loses form) they are going to look like total chumps.
The one positive with all this playing out in the media is that other (selling) clubs now know we have some serious cash we are willing to spend now.
They may come forward with some possible deals for alternative strikers/players who will help us in the run in.
