i was on parade with all the other old codgers for the official opening of the war memorial gardens and that look right super. the leader of the council went on like a mumbai generator and then another blook who was a bit teary i think he was the "project manager" and then the sculptor bloke who explained a bit about his work. and what a great piece of work it is. although i heard one old boy tell the mayor "i dunt loike ut rarely". but i don't agree and think it is superb and love it right off. the piece is called "breath" and the inscription beneath it reads ?The living honour the dead, only a breath divides them.? which absolutely stunned me when i read it.
the sculptor bloke also explained that the word cenotaph is taken from an early greek word meaning "empty tombs" ha ha
it's a good thing that the city has done there.
