Folder pair?

That link is for software, you'd use it with a single device, such as the ones you linked to

Folder pair just means you chose the existing folder that you want to back up, having a "pair" means that it copies it to your backup device (eg external drive) if there have been any changes. Essentially, it's just a jargon way of stating the obvious (ie synchronize)

That software is free, and looks good, so I wouldn't worry about the software that comes with the device you buy
