talking about blair and academy schools, and saying he's therefore more tory than clegg, is very misleading. should think you know that really, but in case not.
whether you agree with them or not, labour academies were designed to deal with failing schools. was never planned as a wholescale reorganisation of the state education system.
thats what gove has announced he is trying to do. is a completely different experiment, all about removing the 'dead hand of the state' from the running of our school system.
you seem well informed, so i guess you know that really. on both education and health. you shouldn't pretend that what the tories and clegg are doing is the same as what happened under the last govermment, because it isnt. (and most of that has nothing to do with fiscal deficits. neither free schools or the reorganisation of the nhs are designed to save money.)
