A somewhat PC biased view

I would rule the iPad out, although it has some really excellent uses, it's very low spec for the price (limited RAM, HDD space). It can't multi task particularly well and doesn't have a physical keyboard

Macs are also expensive for the spec, but their laptops are well built, reliable and well designed. I understand the software is easy to use and intuitive.

A windows laptop will probably be easier to use initially, until you get used to the mac setup. You can get some really nice ones for
