Either a Mac or PC will suit your needs.

You will almost certainly pay more for a Mac, and there's nothing in your spec that screams Mac at me.

A perfectly adequate PC laptop will be ?500 tops, so spend the rest of the money on a decent aftercare package, if your company doesn't already support it.
