Notes, Queries & Observations on The Fine City (more to follow)

Having moved back to God's Own City after the best part of 15 years away, a few observations....

Chapelfield. having lived in the middle of probably Europe?s biggest building site for almost 15 years, I can?t believe the number of fluorescent-clad work dodgers standing around doing nothing in the middle of Chapelfield Gardens or drinking tea and eating Reggie?s bacon sarnies or peas on the market. The shopping centre may well open tomorrow but it won?t be finished??.

Mobility scooters. Norwich is the centre of the mobility scooter world ? no question. I see literally dozens a day.

Road manners. Now this one came as a shocker. Whereas previously if I were attempting to cross a busy road with a three-year-old in a buggy, almost always a driver would stop and wave me over in a well-mannered fashion. Now, when crossing St Stephens? Road at 9am, I dare not move until the green man has flashed half a dozen times, the lights get jumped so frequently.

6 0?Clock.Where is everyone, and they?re not all in the pubs ? all the shops close at 5.30pm, something I?ll have to get used to of course. Lack of public transport I suppose.

Regrets ? None at all, ten minutes walk from the Home of Football, 30 seconds from the Trafford Arms ? I?ll take that..
