The 'P' word

and getting rid of our debt:

Stoke City, a club of similar size to ourselves, did this in their first season up (2008/9):

received 36 million tv money
received 10 million gate money
received 8 million other revenues

spent 29.7 million on wages
spent 9 million on other expenses
spent 14.8 million on player-trading (notably buying Kitson, Beattie, Faye, Etherington & Higginbotham)

And, just like that, there was nothing left (0.5 profit before tax)

Ouch.
