What's wrong with your wording?

It's succinct and to the point. Why try and dress it up? Basically covering letter gets your CV read, CV gets you the interview, interview gets you the job.

Covering letter format I use is:

I would like to apply for xxx. I am qualified as I have worked in this area before as a ... I would like to draw your attention to 1,2,3 and 4 points in my CV which are relevant to the job spec.

I am good with people, i am willing to relocate/travel etc
