why use Algeria as an example?
The point is that Egypt, and Tunisia before it, are states run by muscular dictators and these uprisings send a message right across North Africa and the middle East that could see the biggest power-shift since the end of the Cold War. Except, of course, we don't know for certain from which direction the new power is coming. And clearly Algeria could be next. Then maybe Yemen.
So this is all about as newsworthy as it gets. Or is it just that you wish more people had died?
