The actor and comedian Christophe Al?v?que laid into Zidane for his commercial work in an interview with Sportmag magazine: "If he's an icon I throw up my hands, I surrender, I'll go to a desert island. This guy is an advertising hoarding with three neurons."

Al?v?que continued: "He's also the person who lost us the 2006 World Cup and now he's profiting from his image. As far as I'm concerned that's a form of prostitution."
