I found that out on news in Australia

I was in Perth, my brother went. Before the days of internet and mobile phones of course, it meant that I sat in front of the news for ages once the game had finished waiting for some mention of it. They showed loads of footage of the Pompey v Liverpool semi-final first and then a quick mention and footage of the Byrne goal as I burst into a flood of tears and went running to my room to have a bigger blub there.
