...it seems Worthy has always had issues in arranging tactical formations that will overcome opposition that are equally maleable with their formation.
Our worst defeats are against teams that are fluid, do not stick to rigid lines of four or just two up front. So how is it then that we try exactly the same formations, and yet this year they have failed miserably?
For me, I would love to see:
Green
Colin Davenport Shackell Drury
Marney Safri Hughes
McVeigh Huckerby
Ashton
This formation strikes me as a perfect line up that should be persisted with.
Davenport and Shackell at the back? Too young? Too inexperienced? Not at all, who was it that once said, "if your good enough your old enough", the two of them are most certainly good enough.
The midfield three, Safri, tough tackling good distributor sits in front back two, Hughes and Marney the fit, hard tackling engines. Marney in particularly acting as a creative spark. McVeigh and Huckerby, the two running at back fours looking for that ball through to Ashton. Both have experience as strikers and as wingers, surely could compliment each other perfectly.
Finally, the big man up top winning the headers, flick ons for the pacey Hucks and Pocket, looking for the channels to run into for H and McV to find that killer ball.
Surely, this must hav crossed worthy's mind, and is it possible that it could be the line up in future games?
I personally think it would work a treat....but i'm not a manager.
